Make it yours

Shape it around you

This Rajasthan tour is a starting point. These are some of the changes our travellers most often ask for.

  • Swap Pushkar for two nights in Jaisalmer and the Thar Desert
  • Time your dates for the Pushkar fair in November
  • Add a night at a smaller heritage hotel in the countryside
  • Fly rather than drive between Jodhpur and Udaipur where possible
  • Add a cooking lesson or a private dinner in a haveli
  • Begin with Varanasi or end in Kerala

Questions

Questions about this Rajasthan tour

Which hotel will we stay in when two are listed?

Where we show two hotels, such as Rambagh Palace or Jai Mahal Palace, the first is our usual choice and the second an alternative if your dates are full or you prefer it. We confirm the hotel in your quote.

Are tiger sightings guaranteed?

No one can guarantee a tiger, but Ranthambore is one of the best reserves in India for sightings. Three safaris give you a good chance, and the birds, deer and fort ruins are rewarding in themselves.

Is there a lot of driving?

Most drives take between two and five hours, in a private air-conditioned car, with stops along the way. The final leg is a flight from Udaipur to Delhi.

When is the Pushkar fair?

It follows the Hindu lunar calendar and usually falls in October or November. Pushkar is a holy town, so meat and alcohol are not served there. See our Pushkar journey.

Can this journey be shortened?

Yes. A ten-night version can leave out Pushkar and one night in Udaipur, or begin in Jaipur if you have already seen Agra.
