Why this journey
Why this Holi festival tour
This Holi festival tour times a private journey through Agra, Jaipur and Udaipur to Holi, the spring festival of colour, which falls on 21–22 March 2027. You celebrate with a private morning of colour in Jaipur or, if you prefer, in Agra, and the rest of the journey is shaped around your dates, pace and interests. For the wider picture, see our guide to the best time to visit India.
01
Holi, at the pace you choose
Holi is joyful and loud on the streets. We arrange a private morning of colour in Jaipur or Agra, as you prefer, with music and a long lunch, and you can step into the wider celebrations with your guide for as long as you like.
02
Four unhurried days in Jaipur
Amber Fort, the City Palace and the bazaars are seen in the days before the festival, so that Holi itself is kept for colour, lunch and rest.
03
Agra, Jaipur and Udaipur in one journey
The Taj Mahal comes first, and Udaipur’s lakes and palaces give a quiet finish after the festival.

The route

Questions
Questions about this Holi festival tour
When is Holi in 2027?
Holi follows the Hindu lunar calendar. In 2027 it falls on 21–22 March, with the main day of colour on Monday 22 March. We build the journey around these dates.
Is Holi comfortable for older travellers and families?
Yes, if it is planned well. The street celebrations are lively, so we arrange a private celebration where you choose how much colour you want, and your guide stays with you if you join the crowds. The afternoon after Holi is quiet.
Are the colours safe, and what should we wear?
We arrange natural, skin-safe colours for your celebration. Wear old cotton clothes, put a little oil on your skin and hair beforehand, wear sunglasses, and leave phones and jewellery at the hotel.
Can we celebrate Holi in Agra instead of Jaipur?
Yes. We time your Agra stay at The Oberoi Amarvilas around Holi, and you then continue to Jaipur and Udaipur. We confirm Taj Mahal opening hours for Holi when you book.
Why is there no sightseeing on Holi itself?
Celebrations fill the streets in the morning and the city slows down afterwards, so we keep 22 March for the festival and for rest. Jaipur’s sights are on the days before.
How early should we book?
Palace hotels in Agra, Jaipur and Udaipur fill early for Holi week, so we suggest confirming your journey well in advance to secure the best hotels.
